Family is Dear

Laura's first time belly dancing
I wanted to write tonight in gratitude for my amazing family.  Last night my relatives and I met for dinner.  We went to a restaurant called the Mediterranean Cruise Cafe.  Unfortunately, some relatives were in town because my godmother or aunt is struggling with pancreatic cancer.  I love her so much.  She is one of the most generous, loving women I have ever had the priveledge to meet and love.  I will never forget all she has done for the family.  She helped my family in every way possible when my mom had died when I was only nine. My Aunt Philly would come over from Minneapolis to our Lake Minnetonka home and do all the laundry for us five kids.  There were loads and loads of laundry.  I felt so guility even as a kid.  My aunt was tiny and here she was going up and down the stairs doing our laundry because my dad was struggling with chemical dependency issues.

What a beautiful night of connection with family.  There were around fifty of us in our own private room at this Mediterrean restaurant.  My beautiful Aunt Muggs and Aunt Franny, 89 and 83 respectively, were dancing like crazy with the belly dancer that performed.

The love that was in this room was palpable.  My family, though I am deeply partial because I think I am the luckiest woman in the world with a family like mine.  You could say that we are a deeply spiritual group, so get us together and it is a love fest.  I also danced with the belly dancer, and actually was the first in the family to do so.

I am just sitting here feeling so grateful for the love in my family.  Please enjoy my pictures.

"Stoopin It" In the Suburbs: Politics Shmoliticks

"Stoopin It" In the Suburbs: Politics Shmoliticks

Politics Shmoliticks

I am exasperated about our current political arena. Do not our politicians know that to watch them act like little children is not at all impressive.  I do not like to talk often of politics but I am so tired of listening to everyone blame our now president. I am also tired of watching our local news and observing the ever so child like behavior of one politician to another.  I do not intend to sway anyone about their political stance, but I am here just to vent my opinion.

Why is it that this president who has done more than any president is getting so bogged down by the "blame game".  I ask my friends and peers this question?

How can you complain of the president of doing nothing and making things worse when:

You recieved an  appliance at a great cost reduction because of his energy plan
You kept your home out of foreclosure due to the Hamp program by the president
You bought a car that you would not have otherwise been able to afford because of the rebate program from our president.......

I am challenging all of us to just stop running on automatic and think about the words we are using. Please see that in all the years of whining about politics, it has never helped.  Lets make a paradime shift and teach our children that we can act like adults. Let us show we do not need to see negative ads, but want more education and heart. Let us be critical thinkers in this world.  Let us blend our head and heart together and make a better tommorrow.

It is written " watch what you speaketh"

Emphatically tired of all the backlash
