Do you want to know a secret?

In one of my writing groups we are being asked to write anything on the topic of  "Do you want to know a secret?"  I must put on my psychotherapist hat here.  Secrets are harmful. In a family system, secret keeping can keep a family entrenched in trauma. Secrets can breed many problems.  As a Catholic, I am saddened by the secrets that higher ranking catholic supposed to be's kept, to shield priests from the accountability they should have taken after abusing vulnerable children. Oh, don't get me started......

Too much can happen in any family or group dynamic if secrets are kept.  Now I will tell you a secret about me........
I was an extra in the worst movie ever made.  It is called " The comeback".  Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  2. I agree that secrets have no place in a healthy relationship unless it is for a sweet surprise. As for the Catholic Church...I wouldn't want to be in their shoes on judgement day!

I kissed Loren Greene once....true story! LOL

  7. Secrets....We keep them so others cannot see us in way we wish not to be seen. The more you have the less authentic you can be.
Unless of course, you are a "secret admirer" :)
    Wonderful & thought provoking entry!
    Marc :)

  8. Good job, hadn't really thought about the negative side of secrets, but I have to agree. Most secrets are kept to 'protect' and end up destroying.
I don't have any secrets...my blogs have made my life an open book! lol

  9. Loren Green was on campaign trail with Lyndon Johnson back in the day. I worked for the state. They landed on state property in a helicopter for a campaign stop. I dunno why because we lived in a small town and not heavily populated. Anyway...we all (employees) lined up for a meet and greet with Lyndon Johnson and Loren Green. Everybody was asking for Loren Green's autograph. I asked for a kiss and he obliged. It was one of the highlights of my life. Of course, not too many people believe me, but it's the truth. LOL
