Midnight-Post for GBE2 Blog

When I heard we were to write something about midnight, I smiled.

I live in Minnesota.  Yes, it gets hot in the summer. It gets cold in the winter.  Now let me take you back to our winter. It was unbelievably cold and snowy. We were quite the butt of the joke all over the nation this past winter. I do not remember winter ever being as snowy in Minnesota since I was a small child.

Well, we Minnesotan's all waited so patiently for spring and summer to come. We pretty much went from winter straight to summer.  Who's complaining?  I really feel I can't complain but do let me fill you in on the details.

Last night at MIDNIGHT it was a whopping 89 degrees out. The dew point was at 90 percent. The humidity was all consuming.  It is still humid and the dew point is even higher than yesterday.

Minnesauna your a treat. You heat my buns and warm my feet.
Your bitter cold is hard to take
Winter summer shake and bake
Your spring was loads and loads of rain
My heart calls out in utter pain

Your crazy wild but I love you so
Please just make my veggies grow!!!

Ha! I'm just outside of Chicago, so you and I experience very similar seasonal extremes. It's one hot beast this week, that's for sure!

  9. I am a Michigander and so identify with your love-hate relationship with your home. As I age, though, I am leaning way stronger toward the hate winter side! LOL
    Love the poem, really!

  10. I heard about your summer and couldn't believe it! It's as if you're in Memphis. I remember being fascinated by the way downtown Minneapolis is joined by tunnels so no one has to walk out in subzero temperatures. And yes, down south our mouths were dropping when we heard of your record cold. Did your prize-fighting governor tic off God or something?

  13. I love your little poem at the end. That was a bonus treat for me. :-)

I'm in Florida. I think there's something to be said about having ocean on both sides of the state. I can't remember the last time the temperature actually went over 100 F. But, when the humidity is high, 95 F can certainly feel like over 100 F!

  14. Darlene I am so glad you liked my poem. Silly but oh so true. You are so lucky to live in beautiful Florida. Love the ocean too.

  25. *Chuckle* Loved the little poem. Have to say,I don't know whether to envy you or be glad I don't live there! Can't stand the heat, but I love the cold. Love the idea of such changeable weather, so much better than out fairly predictable grey and probably cloudy ¬¬
Thanks for a little glimpse into your part of the world. *smile*
